METEOR INFANT
Meteor Infant is a musical project by Gomeroi singer-songwriter Liam Keenan. Keenan’s music is embedded with feeling and a longing for home, like a lost soundtrack filled with childhood memories. His sound sits alongside contemporary American indie superstars like Big Thief and Grizzly Bear, but it’s the symbiosis of lyrics, melody and musical themes of landscape and travel that make Meteor Infant equally at home beside iconic Australian bands like The Go-Betweens and The Triffids.
Liam Keenan is a First Nations guitarist and songwriter based in Sydney. Known for his longstanding songwriting project Meteor Infant, Keenan has recently begun working within the world of experimental and improvised guitar music, layering effects and extended guitar techniques to explore the boundaries of harmony and dissonance. This year saw the release, via Room40, of Keenan's collaborative album with indie-rock icon David Grubbs entitled Your Music Encountered in a Dream. A suite of three improvised guitar duets that highlight Keenan's unique sound and sonic ambition.
